20 Minute can help reduce your stress !
There are probably as many definitions of stress as there are causes. Stress can mean different things to different people. Some will thrive on adrenaline, living in a constant crisis enjoying a frantic lifestyle, while others will feel tense and unable to cope at the slightest deviation from their usual routine. Short sharp burst of stress are not dangerous to our wellbeing, our bodies are designed to cope. This is what is known as our “fight or flight” reaction.
Prolonged periods of stress can have a negative affect on many of our body’s systems. It can manifest itself physically causing:
Short term:
· Muscular pain.
· Headaches.
· Insomnia.
Long term:
· Depression.
· Strokes.
· General deterioration in health.
Stress can also affect your emotional state causing inexplicable fatigue, anxiety which in turn can leave you less able to enjoy relationships with others. When stress leaves us with feelings of tension, strain and pressure which affects the quality of our lives, action can be taken to prevent damage. The main contributors to stress are:
Work stress:
· Meeting schedules, deadlines.
· Office politics.
· Large workload.
· Long hours.
Home stress:
· Changes, new home.
· Family demands or conflicts.

One of the main contributors to our everyday stress being the work place, this can cost employers a loss of productivity from their employees. Employees not having the time to get away from their desks or have time out of the office, an easy stress relief is Chair massage. More then 1,000 masseurs are thought to be making regular visits to work places throughout the UK offering Chair massage to busy office staff and other workers.
Massage can boosts the body’s immune system which may be compromised by stress. A chair massage effects the body in two ways:
Physiological:
· Encourages better circulation.
· Increases amount of fresh nutrients oxygen.

Psychological:
· Relaxes the body reducing tension.
· Soothes and comforts the client giving an emotional lift.
· Increased energy levels.
A chair massage is mainly on the back, shoulders, neck and scalp as these are the areas that have been proven to hold a lot of tension. A typical session takes between 15-20 minutes and there are no use of oils or lotions, as the treatment is given over clothes.
